During the preparation of this edition, Mr. Colin Gunn retired from the editorship but, happily, the experience of this outstanding teacher of pharmaceutics
has been available to us during the revision. It was he who, wisely, decided
that it was no longer possible for one author to prepare a general textbook of
pharmaceutics, and who invited me and several other colleagues from the
Leicester School of Pharmacy to help with the work.
